Farmer John gave me some of his homegrown sweet potatoes, so I decided to make roasted potatoes as a side dish for dinner. I have been experimenting with Quinoa, serving it stuffed in Portobello Mushrooms (see recipe under herbs), using in place of couscous or rice and thought I would try it as a cold salad. I was wondering if it would change texture like cold rice, getting hard and a bit crunchy, but the quinoa held up [Read more...]

You may recall, as you followed along with me this past year, how I said we would use some of our frozen and dried summer harvest later. Well, it’s later! It’s a chilly wintery day and time to go to our stash and use some of it to make a big pot of chili. Chili [Read more...]

We just had our Holiday Bunco Party with lots of laughter, great food and a homemade gift exchange. I made a “Cathy’s Herb Basket”, with Lemon-Mint Vinegar, a Dry Herb blend and a Lavender Sachet. Of course all from the garden, the ladies loved it and it was stolen a few times. There were lots [Read more...]

I just went through all my apples checking for bruises and spots and composting the bad. One thing is for sure, it’s time to make a big batch of applesauce! You only need one ingredient… apples. I like to mix a variety of apples to add more flavors, but use whatever you have on hand. [Read more...]
