Spring is on it’s way~really

The snow has melted and we are enjoying a sunny warm day. It actually hit 60 degrees today. The very first sign of spring are the snowdrops in bloom. It’s so exciting to see a blooming flower in February. It gives you the hope that spring is right around the corner.

It’s amazing how these delicate little flowers can handle the winds, snow, ice and show no signs of being battered. The deer don’t eat them either. Enjoy these little beauties.

    Howdy,
I think those little flowers are called snowdrops? Won’t be too long til the crocus& grape hyacinthes show. Is it Spring,? NOT! Trust me, Muther Nature has a twisted sense of humor! Still, it is time for some garden chores. Cleanup, some pruning(fruit trees & grapes, and winter damage). I going do some pruning tomorrow and then burn asparagus& tomatoe vines. I grow them side by side and gather and burn the debris in spring whenever the fire hazard is low. We have a serious blight problem here with tomatoes so I can’t compost them. The best answer to blight is sanitation, crop rotation, and resistant varieties. Fortunately,my tomatoes endured the blight last year for the first time in three years, and kept bearing right up til frost. I’m hoping to keep building up the resistance in my heirloom varieties. Not quite time to start tomatoes, but it is time for cabbage, lettuce and pepper(they gro slo)plants. Farmer John
